RuneScape and the Grand Exchange
What is RuneScape?
RuneScape is a popular MMORPG, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. The game is set in the medieval fantasy world of Gielinor featuring dragons, demons, and other mystical creatures. The game is free to play and only requires Java which is pre-installed on many computers; everything is kept within your internet browser. This allows for players to play from any computer, anywhere.
RuneScape features many skills which players can train to mastery which adds up to hours of play time. Combined with over 300 quests, there is plenty to keep a player occupied. The best part is, new content and quests are being added in weekly updates.
A big part of RuneScape, or any game for that matter, is the economy. The RuneScape economy is mainly driven by the Grand Exchange.
What is the Grand Exchange?
The Grand Exchange, or GE, is a feature introduced to RuneScape in November 2007. The GE is a center for trading in the game. Players can easily place offers to buy and sell items at the GE. The GE will then attempt to fulfill those offers automatically which cuts out countless hours of trying to find a buyer/seller in the vast world of Gielinor.
The GE also calculates a "suggested price" based on supply and demand for each item. A Player can utilize this price by following trends and collecting data in order to maximize profit. This is called merchanting, merching, or arbitrage; and that is where this web app can help. Many players consider merchanting a skill like any other in the game, but can result in great profits or terrible losses depending on the skill level of the player. Using this web app gives an advantage over other players by alerting you of price changes when they happen. See RuneScape Merchanting Using the Grand Exchange Updater for more.
